2、eldandevendeath(Appel1987).Infectedisolateofthevirus.dogsgenerallyshedCCoVintheirfaecesforsixtoninedaysafterinfection(KeenanMETHODS:Threedogsthathadpreviouslytestedseronegativeandandothers1976),althoughthevirushasvirus-negativeforcaninecoronaviruswereinoc

3、ulatedtwice,atbeendetectedinfaecesuptosixmonthsafterclinicalsignshaveceased(Pratelli21-dayintervals,withthevaccineandkeptunderobservation.andothers2001a,2002b,Pratelli2006).Twoseronegativeandvirus-negativedogsservedasunvaccinatedCCoVishighlycontagious,and

4、oncethevirusisestablishedinakennel,thespreadcontrols.Forsafetytests,twoadditionaldogswereinoculatedoftheinfectionisdifficulttocontrol.oronasallywith10timesthevaccinaldoseandnoreactionswereCrowding,unsanitaryconditions,stressduringtrainingandotherenvironmen

5、talobserved.Faecalsampleswerecollecteddailyfromthevaccinatedconditionsappeartofavourthedevelop-dogsafterthefirstandsecondinoculations.Bothvaccinatedandmentofclinicaldisease(Evermannandothers1980,Yasoshimaandotherscontroldogswerechallengedtwoweeksafterthese

6、cond1983,Pratelliandothers1999b,2001b,vaccinationwithafieldcaninecoronavirusstrain.BloodsamplesDecaroandothers2004a).Disinfectionofkennelsandequipmentwith3percentwerecollectedforserologicaltestsbeforevaccinationandathypochloritesolutioniseffectiveinkilling

7、weeklyintervalsaftervaccinationsandchallenge.CCoV,butitdoesnotpreventdog-to-dogtransmission.RESULTS:ViruswasnotdetectedinfaecalsamplesafterthefirstorTheefficacyanddurationoftheimmu-secondvaccinationsbyvirusisolationassaysandPCR.Significantly,nityprovidedbyCC

8、oVvaccinesarecon-troversial(Carmichael1997).Arecentthevaccinateddogsdidnothaveclinicalsignsafterchallengeandstudydescribedthelowefficacyofaninac-novirussheddingwasobserved.ThetwounvaccinatedcontroldogstivatedCCoVvacc
