2、nandbetweenTurkishpopulationsofthewildprogenitorofwheats,tetraploidwildemmerwheat,Triticumturgidumvar.dicoccoides,wasstudiedelectrophoretically.Forty-eightenzymelociwereassayedin157individualplantsrepresentingfourpopulationsofT.r.dicoccoides,acrossatransectof90k
3、minTurkishKurdistan.Thefollowingresultswereindicated:(i)T.t.dicoccoidesinTurkeycomprisesmediumlevelsofallozymediversity.Outof48putativeloci19(40percent)werepolymorphicandthelevelofgeneticdiversitywasmediumHe=0•057.(ii)Altogetherwescored72allelesinthe48loci.(iii)
4、ThepopulationgeneticsstructureofT.t.dicoccoidesinTurkey,similartothatinIsrael(Nevoeta!.,1982),displayedanecological-genetic,semi-isolated,"archipelego".Thirteenofthe24variantalleles(or54percent)werelocalized.(iv)ThemeangeneticdistancebetweenpopulationswasD=0046,
5、range0019—O•082.(v)About86percentoftheplants(101outof117)analyzedbydiscriminantanalysiswerecorrectlyclassifiedintheirpopulationspaces.(vi)Geneticdiversity,He,andsomerepresentativeallelefrequenciesweresignificantlyexplainedbytwovariablecombinationsofwater,tempera
6、tureorgeographicalfactors.(vii)63percentoftheallozymevariationwaswithinand37percentwasbetweenpopulations.(viii)Significantgameticphasedisequilibriaabound,displayingalleleassociationatthetwo-locuslevel.(ix)Strongalleleassociationsoccuratthemultilocuslevelatthemeg
7、apopulationandateachofthe4populations.Ontheaverage,themegapopulationwas71percenthigherinthenumberofexpectedheterozygousloci,K,thanthatexpectedunderrandomassociations;therangebetweenpopulationswasX(2)=29—125percent.Theseresultssuggestthat(i)climaticselectionplays
