6、intelligencenecessarilyinvolvesknowinghow,whenandwhysucheffectsoccur.Arguably,affectremainsperhapsthe‘lastfrontier’inourquesttounderstandthedynamicsofhumanbehavior.Althoughmostofusintuitivelyknowthatourfeelingsandmoodscanhaveacrucialinfluenceonourmentallifeandac
7、tions,untilrecentlywedidnotfullyunderstandhowandwhytheseinfluencesoccur.Acritical–andsofarratherneglected–componentof‘emotionalintelligence’istobeawareofhowaffectivestateswillinfluenceourthoughtsandbehaviors.Mostoftheseeffectsaresubtle,subconsciousanddifficultto
