3、M)onthecentralintegrationofthecardiacsympatheticafferentreflex(CSAR)innormalratsandinratswithcoronaryligation-inducedchronicheartfailure(CHF).Underα-chloraloseandurethaneanesthesia,meanarterialpressure,heartrateandrenalsympatheticnerveactivity(RSNA)wererecordedatbaselineandduringelicita
4、tionoftheCSARevokedbyelectricalstimulationofthecardiacafferentsympatheticnervesinsino-aorticdenervatedandcervicalvagotomizedrats.AcannulawasinsertedintotheleftRVLMformicroinjectionofNOsynthaseinhibitor,S-methyl-L-thiocitruline(MeTC)orNOdonor,S-nitroso-N-acetyl-penicil-lamine(SNAP).TheCS
5、ARwastestedbyelectricalstimulation(5,10,20and30Hzat10Vfor1ms)oftheafferentcardiacsympatheticnerves.Itwasobservedthat(1)theresponsesofRSNAtostimulationwereenhancedinratswithCHF;(2)MeTC(80nmol)potentiatedtheresponsesofRSNAtostimulationinshamratsbutnotinratswithCHF;(3)SNAP(50nmol)depressed
6、theenhancedRSNAresponsetostimulationinCHFratsbuthadnoeffectinshamrats;and(4)MeTCincreasedthebaselineRSNAandMAPonlyinshamrats,butSNAPinhibitedthebaselineRSNAandMAPinbothshamandCHFrats.TheseresultsindicatethatreductanceofNOintheRVLMisinvolvedintheaugmentationofCSARinCHFrats.Keywords:cardi
