4、inetheefficacyofinvitrochemosensitivityassaysinovariancarcinomaandtomeasurethecorrelationofthreeleadingassays.MaterialandMethods:Freshtumoraltissuesamplesof26newlydiagnosedprimaryovariancancerpatientswerestudiedwith3-(4,5-dimeth-ylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolyumbromid
5、e(MTT)assay,adenosinetriphosphate-tumorchemosensitivityassay(ATP-TCA)anddifferentialstainingcytotoxicity(DISC)assays.Chemosensitivityoftumorswerestudiedforpaclitaxel,carboplatin,docetaxel,topotecan,gemcitabine,anddoxorubicinwitheachofthethreeassays.Subgroupanalysiswasperfor
6、medforstage,grade,andhistologictype.Results:TheinvitrochemosensitivityresultsofMTT,ATP,andDISCassayswerefoundtobesimilar.Thesubgroupsinwhichinvitroassayswouldbemoreusefulwereencounteredforpatientswithadvancedstageandseroushistologyovariancarcinoma.Conclusions:Invitrochemose
7、nsitivitycanbedeterminedinovariancarcinomawithATP,MTT,orDISCassaysbeforetheinitiationofche-motherapy.Thesethreeassayscorrelatewellwitheachotherandareparticularlyusefulforserousandadvancedcancers.Largeprospectivestudiescomparingstandardversusassay-directedtherapywithanendpoi
