2、alotofscholarshavealreadymadeexplorationsinthefield.However，mostofthosecomparisonseithergavehighlypraisetoonetranslator’sversionbutbadlydepreciatedanotherone’soronlycomparedversionsoncertainrespect(WangYonghong2002；Jin2005；WangZhuling2003).Asisknown,eachversionhasitsmeritsanddemerits,sowhatwesho

3、ulddoistotakeupthemeritswhiletodiscardthedemerits.Inthissituation,thispaperintendstomakeacomparisononthethreewell-receivedversionsof“OfStudy”undertheguidanceofthefunctionalequivalencetheorysoastogivereadersacomprehensiveviewofthethreeversionsonmeaning,styleandaestheticvalue.Indoingso,thereadersm

4、ighthaveadeepunderstandingoftheessenceoftheoriginaltext,andatthesametime,somevaluablesuggestionsmightbemadetohelpfuturetranslationpractice.Thispaperconsistsofthreechapters.Inchapterone,ashortsummarytoNida’sfunctionalequivalencetheory.Inchaptertwo,theauthorgivethereadersageneralimpressionoftheori
