4、处于被动地位的原因,并提出一些改变该状况的可行性建议。 1.Introduction ChinahasseenanincreasingdemandforEnglishinpeople’scareersandpromotionssince1978andparticularlyafterChina’sentranceintoWTO.Naturally,thereisanimpressivecommitmenttoEFLteachingandlearningfrombothteachersandlearn
5、ers.ThereisnodoubtthatmuchprogressinEnglishteachingandlearninghasbeenmadeinChinainthelasttwodecades.Seeingthat,neverinthenation’shistoryhadsomuchmoney,time,effort,equipmentandsoonbeeninvestedinEnglishlanguageteachingandlearningandneverhassomuchinternatio
6、nalcooperationbeeninvolvedinprojectstotrainbothChineseEFLprofessionalsandlearners(Dzau,1990,Cortazz&jin,1996).However,theoutcomeoftheendeavorsseemstobefarfromitspointofsatisfaction,especiallyinthefieldofEnglishteachingandlearninginthemiddleschools.AsEngl
