3、onversations,butmystudyisacasestudyonentofpolitenessisoneoftheprincipleportantlanguageoftradeandbusiness,itisanindispensableskillfordailybusinessaffairknotolosehiscustomers,andmoney.1.2TheSignificanceandObjectivesoftheStudyPolitenesstheoryhasdradifferentperspectives,itremainsverymuchalive.

4、Politenesstheoryandrelatedstudies,likediscourseanalysis,conversationanalysisandstudiesofinterethnicmunication,havechieflybeenbasedonobservationsinempiricalstudiesofspokenlanguageandhavemainlybeenfocusedonface-to-faceinteractionindailymunicativesettings,andevenifpolitenesshasbeenstudiedinpr

5、ofessionalsettings,thefocushasbeenmainlyonoralinteraction(Erickson,1982;Fiksdal,1988;Charlotte,1988).Itissurprisingthatfealmunicativemeans,needhighstandardsofpolitenesstohelptheirs.Inaddition,thestudiesonlinguisticpolitenesshaveseldombeenbasedoncorpusdata,andtheyhavebeenconductedportancean

6、dplexityofnon-linguisticcontextlargelyignored.Thepolitenessprinciplehasoftenbeendiscussedbasedoninventedutterancesinasocialvacuum.Hoythesis,Ihavecollectedmanyauthenticbusinesslettersthathaveservedtheirpurposesinreality,an-->dtrytofindouthoilartootherformsofcreativeandofEnglish,entsofgoodbu
