3、lantregeneration.Eighttreatmentsforcallusinductionwithdifferentauxinandcytokininlevelswerecomparedfortheireffectoncallusinductionandlaterplantregeneration.Therewerenostatisticallysignificantdifferencesamongcultivarsforthenumberofrootsegmentsthatinducedcallus.Theaveragecallusinductio

4、nfrequencyfromrootsegmentswas34.7%.Aftercallusinductionfortwomonths,calluslinesweretransferredtoregenerationmedium,i.e.MS30supplementedwith1mg/l(4.6mM)kinetin.Regeneratedplantswereobtainedviasomaticembryogenesisandorganogenesis.Calliderivedfromdifferentexperimentswerequiteuniformwit

5、hrespecttotheirregenerationpotential.Alsoitwasfoundthatourregenerationsystemwascultivarindependent.Highlystatisticallysignificantdifferenceswerefoundinthefrequencyofshootregenerationamongdifferentcallusinductiontreatments.Whencytokininwaspresentduringcallusinduction,latershootregene

6、rationwashigh,rangingfrom30.10%to47.60%.Alreadyasmallamountofcytokinin(0.1mg/l2ip:0.5mM)inthecallusinductionmediumhadaprofoundeffectonlaterregeneration.Allinall,anefficientcallusinductionandplantregenerationsystemcouldbedevelopedfromsegmentstakenalongtheentirelengthoftheroots.Thissy
