4、fmedievalapproachestoproblemsratherthantoevaluatesolutions.Thisisnottodenythattimelesstruthcanbefoundinthematerialpresented.Manystudentsofmedievalmetaphysicswouldholdthatthedisciplinehadenteredon“thesurepathofascience,”inKant’sphrase,severalcenturiesbe-foreKantrestricte
5、ditsscopetolayingbaretheconditionsofpossibleexperience(andwouldattributeKant’sdismissalofearliereffortsas“randomgroping”totypicalEnlightenmentignoranceofmedievalthought).Weareconvinced,however,thattheinsightsofmedievalphilosophyappearmostclearlyinthemidstofthediscussion
