3、erpetualstruggle.Terroristactivityconductedbyrad-icalgroupsoperatinginsmallcellsscatteredacrosstheglobehasdramati-callychangedourfeelingofsecurityandhascurtailedmanyoftherightsguaranteedbyourConstitution,increasingthepowerofthegovernmentandthepresidency.TheUnitedStateshasconductedthelongeste
4、ngage-mentwithconflictinthehistoryofourcountry.Thehumanandeco-nomiccostshavebeenastronomical,divertingrevenuefromeducation,research,infrastructuredevelopment,andotheraspectsofoursocietythathadmadeourcountrygreat,andaleaderintheworld.Regres-sivemembersofCongresssubstitutingpartisanshipforpatr
5、iotismhaveaggravatedtheglobaleconomicGreatRecessionwithareactiveideologi-calpushforausteritymeasures.Bynow,readersareperhapsaskingwhatistobedone.Whileitisimpos-sibletoprovidearoadmapofthefuture,considertheseclosingpagesasonepossibleroutetowarddemocraticchange.188democraticchangeHistorically,
