2、encenumbering,timestampinganddeliverymonitoring.ApplicationstypicallyrunRTPontopofUDPtomakeuseofitsmultiplexingandchecksumservices;bothprotocolscontributepartsofthetransportprotocolfunctionality.However,RTPmaybeusedwithothersuitableunderlyingnetworkortransportprotocols(seeSectio
3、n10).RTPsupportsdatatransfertomultipledestinationsusingmulticastdistributionifprovidedbytheunderlyingnetwork.NotethatRTPitselfdoesnotprovideanymechanismtoensuretimelydeliveryorprovideotherquality-of-serviceguarantees,butreliesonlower-layerservicestodoso.Itdoesnotguaranteedeliver
4、yorpreventout-of-orderdelivery,nordoesitassumethattheunderlyingnetworkisreliableanddeliverspacketsinsequence.ThesequencenumbersincludedinRTPallowthereceivertoreconstructthesender'spacketsequence,butsequencenumbersmightalsobeusedtodeterminetheproperlocationofapacket,forexampleinv
5、ideodecoding,withoutnecessarilydecodingpacketsinsequence.WhileRTPisprimarilydesignedtosatisfytheneedsofmulti-participantmultimediaconferences,itisnotlimitedtothatparticularapplication.Storageofcontinuousdata,interactivedistributed12第页simulation,activebadge,andcontrolandmeasureme
