3、ableunderlyingnetworkortransportprotocols(seeSection10).RTPsupportsdatatransfertomultipledestinationsusingmulticastdistributionifprovidedbytheunderlyingnetwork. NotethatRTPitselfdoesnotprovideanymechanismtoensuretimelydeliveryorprovideotherquality-of-serviceguar
4、antees,butreliesonlower-layerservicestodoso.Itdoesnotguaranteedeliveryorpreventout-of-orderdelivery,nordoesitassumethattheunderlyingnetworkisreliableanddeliverspacketsinsequence.ThesequencenumbersincludedinRTPallowthereceivertoreconstructthesender'spacketsequence
5、,butsequencenumbersmightalsobeusedtodeterminetheproperlocationofapacket,forexampleinvideodecoding,withoutnecessarilydecodingpacketsinsequence. WhileRTPisprimarilydesignedtosatisfytheneedsofmulti-participantmultimediaconferences,itisnotlimitedtothatparticularappl
6、ication.Storageofcontinuousdata,interactivedistributedsimulation,activebadge,andcontrolandmeasurementapplicationsmayalsofindRTPapplicable. ThisdocumentdefinesRTP,consistingoftwoclosely-linkedparts:[1].Thereal-timetransportprotocol(RTP),tocarrydatathathasreal-tim
