6、ragivenphonemeinaspecificcontextusuallywillnotchangethemeaningofawordbuttheresultmaysoundnon-nativeorunintelligible.Speakersofagivenlanguageusuallyperceiveonephonemeintheirlanguageasasingledistinctivesoundinthatlanguageandare"bothunawareofandevenshockedby"theallophonevariationsusedtopronou
