4、ytheeconomiccrisisisbeingdrivenbyafalloffinactivityasjobsdisappearorbecomingverydifficulttoundertake.Inthisnoteweanalysewhatthiscoronavirusincomeshockmeansforfamiliesastheyseektomanagetheirhousingcostsinthecomingmonths,andassessthewaystheyarebeinghelpedtoweatherthestorm.Critically,wesuggestthatev
5、enwithmoregeneroushousingcostssupport,significantnumbersofrenterscouldbuilduprentarrears.Furtheractionfromgovernmentaswellasforbearancefromlandlordswilllikelyberequiredifanuptickinhousingstressistobeaverted.Spotlight

7、ndituretheymakeeachmonth,andonethatisdifficulttoeasilyadjust(evencomparedtootheressentialssuchasclothingorheating).Atthetimeofwriting,weestimatethatbetweenone-thirdtoone-halfoftheUK’slabourforceisunabletowork,eitherbecausepeopleareinsectorsseverelyaffectedbythecrisis;theyhaveschoolagechildrenbuta
