3、ancienthumantokeepoutwindandcold.Inacertainstageofprimitivesociety,manonceconsideredanimalsasGodstoworship.Sofaranimalsarestillclosefriendsofhumanbeings.Nowthatanimalsplayanimportantroleinhumanlives,theanimalwordsinhumanlanguageswillbearthedeepsocio-culturalimprintsinthecourseofbe
4、ingusedlongbythehumanbeings.1.2InfluenceofanimalwordsinbothChineseandEnglishcultureLanguageisthecarrierandcontainerofculturalinformation.Humanbeingshavebeeninteractingwiththeworldandaccumulatedtheirexperienceandknowledgeabouttheworld,whicharerepresentedinlanguage.Asaresult,wecanfi
5、ndinlanguageallhumanknowledgeandexperiencewhichareinterpretedasculturalinformation.[1]Soinhumanlanguagethereexistaplentyofanimalwordsthatareoftenusedaskindsofassociationvehicles.Humanbeingsoftenassociatetheirfeelingsandemotionswithvariousanimalsaccordingtoanimals’featuressuchasthe
6、irappearances,habitsandcharacteristicssothatthenamesorimagesofanimalspossessspecificculturalconnotations.Cultureisthesoiloflanguage.SirEdwardTylor,aBritishanthropologist,wasoneofthosewhofirstdefinedculture，inPrimitiveCulture(1871).Hisdefinitionwasthat“Cultureiscomplexwhole,whichin
7、cludesknowledge,belief,art,law,morals,customsandanyothercapabilitiesandhabitsacquiredbymanasamemberofsociety.”Tylor’sdefinitionhascontinuallybeenthebasisofmostanthropologicalconceptionofculture.[2]Cultureisalsoahistoricalphenomenon.Eachgenerationinheritsthecultureestablishedbyitsf
