4、illbearthedeepsocio-culturalimprintsinthecourseofbeingusedlongbythehumanbeings.1.2InfluenceofanimalwordsinbothChineseandEnglishcultureLanguageisthecarrierandcontainerofculturalinformation.Humanbeingshavebeeninteractingwiththeworldandaccumulatedtheirexperienceandkn
5、owledgeabouttheworld,whicharerepresentedinlanguage.Asaresult,wecanfindinlanguageallhumanknowledgeandexperiencewhichareinterpretedasculturalinformation.[1]Soinhumanlanguagethereexistaplentyofanimalwordsthatareoftenusedaskindsofassociationvehicles.Humanbeingsoftenas
6、sociatetheirfeelingsandemotionswithvariousanimalsaccordingtoanimals’featuressuchastheirappearances,habitsandcharacteristicssothatthenamesorimagesofanimalspossessspecificculturalconnotations.Cultureisthesoiloflanguage.SirEdwardTylor,aBritishanthropologist,wasoneoft
7、hosewhofirstdefinedculture，inPrimitiveCulture(1871).Hisdefinitionwasthat“Cultureiscomplexwhole,whichincludesknowledge,belief,art,law,morals,customsandanyothercapabilitiesandhabitsacquiredbymanasamemberofsociety.”Tylor’sdefinitionhascontinuallybeenthebasisofmostant
