2、sbeenusedtoevaluatetheoptimumdimensionsofacentral-heatingradiator.Theradiatorproblemisdividedintothreeone-dimensionalfinproblemsandthenthetemperaturedistributionswithinthefinsandheat-transferratefromtheradiatorareobtainedanalytically.Theoptimumgeometrymaximizingtheheat-transferrateforagivenradi

4、ters.Astheradiatorishotterthantheairsurroundingit,acertainamountofheatistransferredtotheairandthusthewaterexistsatalowertemperature.Ofthevariousdesignsavailableusuallyequippedwithconvectionfinstoimprovetheirheatoutput,arecommonindomestic,businessandindustrialenvironments.Theuseofcentral-heating
5、radiatorsisthemainformofdomesticheatinginthehomes.Althoughradiatorsareknownasradiator,mostoftheiroutputisbynaturalconvection.Sincetheaveragesurfacetemperatureofacentral-heatingradiatorisgenerallylessthan80 °C,thecontributionofradiativetransfertothetotalheattransferissmallerthanthatofthenaturalc
6、onvectionheattransfer.Becauseofthelowsurfacetemperatures,radiationheattransfertermintheenergybalanceequationscanbelinearizedinthethermalanalysisofsucharadiator.Inthepresentpaper,assumingthatthepredominantmodesofheattransferareconductionandconvection,andtheeffectoftheradiationisignored,anapproxi
