3、coronavirus229Eandshowedtheparticlesnottobecoronaviruses.Dif-ferencesinpolypeptideprofilesandmorphologybetweentheCVLPsandduodenalbrushbordervesiclessuggestedthattheCVLPswerealsonotsuchvesicles.Althoughtheysharedsomebasicoverallsimilarity,thepolypeptideprofilesofthreedifferent
4、butpossiblyantigenicallyidenticalCVLPprep-arationsfromCentralAustralianAborigineswereverydissimilarindetail.Atleast38,39and48bandsrespectivelywereobservedonthethreeprofiles.Atleast46bandswerevisibleonthepolypeptideprofileofCVLPsfromaVietnameseimmigranttoAustralia,anditalsodif
5、feredindetailfromthoseoftheCentralAustralianCVLPs.IndicationsofantigenicdifferencewereobtainedbetweenCentralAus-tralianCVLPsandCVLPsfromIndia,Kiribati,SouthAfricaandViet-nameseimmigrantstoAustralia.AntigenicdifferencewasalsosuggestedbetweentheCentralAustralianCVLPsandthoset~'
6、omonedistantlo-cationwithinAustralia,butantigenicsimilaritywiththosefromanotherwasindicated.IntroductionSincethedetectioninhumanstoolsofpleomorphicparticlesresem-blingcoronavirusesin1975[6,15]manyfurtherobservationsofsuchparticlesinf~eceshavebeenmade.Morerecentlyithasbecomecl
7、earer310g.D.Schnagletal.thatsomeoftheseparticlesaremostprobablytrueeoronaviruses[9,16],whileothersarelikelytofitintotherecentlyproposedtorovirusgroup[3,23].Manyotheroftheseobservedhumanentericeoronavirus~likeparticles(CVLPs),oftypeswhichappearedtobemorphologicallymoredissimil
