4、ereservoirhostsofanumberSampleswerecollectedatsitesinsouthwestEnglandbe-ofvirusesthathavecauseddiseaseoutbreaksinthepasttween2006and2009.AsinglefecalpelletwascollectedfromÔdecade(Wongetal.2007).TheBetacoronavirus,severeacuteeachbat,andeitherpreservedin250lLRNAlater(Appliedrespiratorysyndrome-rel
5、atedcoronavirus(SARS-CoV),Biosystems,Warrington,Cheshire,U.K.)orsnap-frozenonwhichprobablyoriginatedininsectivorousbats(Lietal.dryice.Sampleswerestoredat-80°Cuntilanalysis.Cotton2005),causedperhapsthemostsignificantoftheseoutbreaksbagsinwhichthebatswereheldweresterilizedbetweenin2002,resultingin8
6、096humancasesand774fatalitiesusebyautoclavingfollowedbysoakingin6%sodiumacross26countries(WorldHealthOrganization,2004).hypochlorite(domesticbleach)andwashingtopreventSubsequentsurveillancedetectedcoronavirus(CoV)speciesinbatsfromeverycontinenttheyinhabit,includingconti-nentalEurope(GenBanktaxon
