4、ltsofascreeningforcoronavirusarepresented,usingauniversalcoronavirusRT-PCR,ofthebirdspeciesgraylaggoose(Anseranser),feralpigeon(Columbialivia)andmallard(Anasplatyrhynchos).Coronaviruseswerefoundincloacalswabsamplesfromallthethreebirdspecies.Inthegraylaggoose,40of163sampledbirdswer
5、ecoronaviruspositive,whereastwoof100sampledpigeonsandoneoffivesampledmallardstestedpositive.Theinfectedgraylaggeeseshowedlowerbodyweightscomparedwithvirus-negativebirds,suggestingclinicalsignificanceoftheinfection.Phylogeneticanalysesperformedonthereplicasegeneandnucleocapsidprotein
6、sequences,indicatedthatthenovelcoronavirusesdescribedinthepresentstudyallbranchofffromgroupIIIcoronaviruses.Allthenovelaviancoronavirusesharbouredtheconserveds2mRNAstructureintheir39untranslatedregion,likeotherpreviouslydescribedgroupIIIcoronaviruses,andliketheSARScoronavirus.Sequ
