3、-ferentlyinvivoisnotknown.Inthisstudy,infectionkinetics(titresandantigenexpression)ofFIPV79-1146,andFECV79-1683,weredeterminedinperipheralbloodmonocytesfrom3donorcatsandcomparedtothoseinCrandellfelinekidney(CrFK)cells.Theinfectionkineticsinmonocyteswerehostdependent
4、.Monocytesfrom1catwereresistanttobothFIPV-andFECV-infection.Mono-cytesfromtheother2catscouldinitiallybeinfectedbybothFIPVandFECVbutFIPVinfectionwassustainedinmonocytesofonlyonecat.FECV-infectionwasneversustainedandviralproductionwasupto100timeslowerthaninFIPV-infect
5、edmonocytes.InCrFKcells,FIPVandFECVinfectionkineticsdidnotdiffer.Inmonocytesofalargercatpopulation(n=19)the3infectionpatternswerealsofound.Consideringall22investigatedcats,3/22werenotsusceptibleforFIPVandFECV.TherestcouldbeinfectedwithFECVandFIPVbut10/22catshadmonoc
6、ytesthatonlysustainedFIPVinfectionand9/22sustainedneitherFIPVnorFECVinfection.IntroductionTwocoronavirusesaredescribedincats:felineinfectiousperitonitisvirus(FIPV)andfelineentericcoronavirus(FECV).Thesefelinecoronavirusesarespreadworld-wideandinfectcatsandothermembe
