4、oftheMAbstopreventthehaemagglutination(HA)activityofbovinecorona-elutionofvirusfromBCV-erythrocytecomplexestovirus(BCV)tobeanalysedinoneassay.Alysateofbeassessed.NoinhibitionofRDEwasdetectablewithHRT-18cellsinfectedwiththeL9strainofBCVwasMAbsagainstglycoprotei
5、nS,whichhadHA1titresfoundtohaveahigherRDE:HAratiothanpurifiedrangingfrom1:16to1:128.Ontheotherhand,MAbsvirus.At4°CthelysateinducedanHApatternwhichdirectedagainstglycoproteinHEhadsimilarHA1completelydisappeareduponraisingofthetempera-titres,buttheyinhibitedelut
6、ionof8HAunitsofBCVtureto37°C.ThisL9-infectedcelllysatewasusedtoattitresofupto1:65000.determinetheHAinhibition(HAI)titresofMAbsBovinecoronavirus(BCV)isanenteropathogenwhichsequenceoftheSgeneofBCVencodes1363aminocausesseverediarrhoeainneonatalcalves(Mebusetal.,a
7、cids,withanN-terminalsignalsequenceanda1973)andwhichisimplicatedaetiologicallyinwintertransmembranesequenceneartheC-terminalend.dysenteryofadultcattle(Saifetal.,1988).BCVCleavageoftheSglycoproteinintoproteinsS1and$2isrepresentsoneofthebettercharacterizedhaemag
8、-predictedtooccuratanRRSRRorRRSVRsequenceatglutinatingcoronaviruses.Fourmajorstructuralproteinspositions764to768(Zhangetal.,1991;Parkeretal.,areassociatedwithinfectiousBCV(King&Bri
