2、acceptedDecember17,1986Thecompletenucleotidesequenceofnonstructuralgene5ofcoronavirusmousehepatitisvirus(MHV)strainA59hasbeendetermined.Thissequencecontainstwopotentialopenreadingframeswhichoverlapbyfivenucleotides.Theputativeproteinproductspredictedfromthesequence
3、areabasic13,000-Dapolypeptideanda9600-Dapolypeptidecontaininganunusuallylonghydrophobicaminoterminus.RNAstranscribedinvitrofromDNAscontainingeachoftheopenreadingframesinpGEMvectorsdirectthesynthesisinvitroofpolypeptidesofthesizespredictedbythesequence.AnRNAtranscri
4、ptcontainingbothoftheopenreadingframesdirectsthesynthesisprimarilyofthepolypeptidecorrespondingtothedownstreamopenreadingframe.ThesedatasuggestthatMHV-A59messengerRNA5potentiallyencodestwoproteinsandmaybepreferentiallytranslatedfromaninternalAUGinitiationcodon.o198
