1、AbstractVocabulary,asoneofthefiveelementsoflanguageknowledge(pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,functionandtopic)isregardedasthefoundationofalanguage.Therepertoireofvocabularyhasacloserelationwithlearners’communicativecompetence.However,vocabularyteachingispoorlymanagedin
2、seniorhighschoolsinChina.Inrecentyears,someexpertsandteachershavebeenexploringnewmethodsofvocabularyteaching.ManyofthemarecommittedtotheapplicationofContextTheorytovocabularyteaching.However,mostofthemjustpayattentiontothestageofpresentingnewwordsintheteachingprocess,an
3、dneglectthestageofconsolidatingnewwords.ThisthesismainlyexploresapplyingContextTheoryinboththepresentationandconsolidationstageofvocabularyteaching.Thefollowingtwohypothesesaretested:Context-basedvocabularyteachingcanimprovestudents’abilityofusingvocabularylearningstrat
4、egies.Context-basedvocabularyteachingcaneffectivelyimprovethestudents’competenceofvocabularyapplicationinwriting.Thesubjectsofthisexperimentare96studentsfromtwoclassesofGradeTeninNineteenthHighSchoolinXingtai.Context-basedvocabularyteachingisadoptedinEC(theExperimentalC
5、lass),whiletraditionalvocabularyteachingiscarriedoutinCC(theControlClass).Theexperimentlastsforonesemester.Dataiscollectedbyquantitativeandqualitativemethodsfromtests,questionnairesandaninterview.ThentheyareanalyzedbySPSS17.0.TheresultsindicatethatthescoresoftheExperime
6、ntalClass,inwhichvocabularyistaughtwiththecontext-basedmethod,aremuchhigherthanthoseoftheControlClass.Thestudysuggeststhatcontext-basedvocabularyteachingcanimprovestudents’abilityofusingvocabularylearningstrategies.Inaddition,context-basedvocabularyteachingcaneffectivel
