8、ninitiativetogiveconnectivitytoallsecondaryschoolsinRwandausingwirelessbroadbandandfiberopticduringthenexttwoyears.Theconnectivityisviewed,amongotherthings,asbringingthecostdownofdeliveringschoolmaterialsthroughaneducationalportalaspartofthenationaldevelopmentgateway.Themissiono
9、ftheMinistryofEducation,ScienceandTechnologyis“tocombatignoranceandilliteracy"and"toprovidehumanresourcesusefulforthesocio-economicdevelopmentofRwandathrougheducationandtraining.”Rwandahasadoptedatrilingualeducationapproach–English,FrenchandKinyarwanda.Educationisoneofthesectors
10、havemadeconsiderableprogresssince1994.Grossprimaryenrolmentnowstandsat135percentwhilenetenrolmentnowstandsat86percent.Issuesofqualityandequitystillhavetobedealtwith.Theimportanceofinformationcommunicationtechnologies(ICT)isunderscoredbythepolicythat“Scienceandmathematicsteaching
11、andICTshallbeattheheartoftheeducationsystem.”SeveralinitiativesareunderwayfortheuseofICTsineducation.Forexample,USAIDhasprovidedseedmoneyforcomputerizingprimaryschools.HeadedbyWorldLinkaRwandanAllianceforPrimarySchoolComputerizationhasbeenestablished.Mindfuloftheneedforcapacityb
