2、eYangtzeDelta.TtisanimportantindustrialbaseintheZhejiangProvinceandhasbecomeoneofthelargestportcitiesinChina.ThegarmentsectorisanimportantpartofNingbo"smanufacturingindustry,givingemploymenttomorethan200,000people.Itsimportanceforsocialandeconomiccohesionhasinc
3、reasedbecauseitisdominatedbyagreatnumberofenterprises.Morethan2,000firmsareengagedinthisindustry,ofwhich439arcmedium-sizedandlarge-sizedenterpriseswithatotal117,000employees.In2003,allNingbo"sgarmentindustryproducedover1.4billionsuits,accountingfor12%ofthecount
4、ry"stotalproductioncapacity,andhada22.8billionRMBapproximately$2.76billionturnover.AstheoldestsectorinthehistoryofNingboindustrialdevelopment,thegeirmentindustryhasundergoneremarkableexpansionandmodernizationeffortsthroughitsprivatizationandmarkctizationduringt
5、helast1990s.Ithasincreasedproductivitythroughtheclusterandproductionchain,re-orientedproductionfromlow-qualitytohigh-qualityproductsandmadeabundantestablishedbrands.NowinNingbo,11firmsareofChina's100bestgarmententerprises.TheNingbogarmentindustryhasnurturedanum
