3、theimpactoforganisationalandmanagerialpractices.Inthisregion,researchmusttakeintoaccountboththeemergenceofindigenousmanifestationsandlocalisationofforeignenterprisesandbusinesses,aswellashowsomecountrieshaveexpandedtheiroperationsinneighbouringareas,totheNorthortheEast(e.g.theUnitedStat
4、esandCanada,Europe,China).BusinesstrafficmovesbothfromandtoLatinAmerica.Despitethisapparentlyfavourablestateofaffairs,reinforcedbythepromisingandsustainedindexesofeconomicgrowthinmanycountries,manypressingissuesremainunresolved,includingpoverty,educationandviolence.Somegovernmentsleaveto
5、privateenterprisesandentrepreneurstheresponsibilityofdealingwiththebasiclivingconditionsofthepopulation;otherstakefullcontrol.Businessesalsohaveconvertedsomeissuesintoopportunities.Theendresultreflectsamixtureofpartnerships,alliances,agreements,modesandregimesthatdemonstratejusthowcomple
6、xandmultifarioustheLatinAmericancontextis,themethodsorganisationshavelearnedtooperateinthiscontextandwhattheirexperiences,pitfalls,achievementsandpossibilitiesteachus.Wealsoneedabetterunderstandingofthemotivationsforandconsequencesofcorporatesocialresponsibility(CSR)inthissetting,aswell
7、asarecognitionoftheimpactsofinternationallyorientedCSRpractices,beyondtheconstraintsofacompanyandintothecommunitiesandthephysicalenvironment.ThisspecialissueaimstoprovidesuchabetterunderstandingofhoworganisationshaveadvancedtheideaofCSR,withaviewtowardsthehistoricconditionsthat
