3、bruary2006AbstractTheconstituentsofsevenmushroomssoldasAmanitamuscariaorAmanitapantherina(fiveA.muscariaandtwoA.pantherina)andfour‘‘extractspurportedtocontainA.muscaria’’productsthatarecurrentlycirculatedinJapanweredetermined.AllmushroomsampleswereidentifiedasA.muscariaorA.pan
4、therinabymacroscopicandmicroscopicobservation.Thedissociativeconstituents,ibotenicacid(IBO)andmuscimol(MUS),wereextractedwith70%methanoltwiceanddeterminedbygaschromatography/massspectrometry.TheIBO(asthehydrate)/MUScontentswereintherangeof<10–2845ppm/46–1052ppminthecapofA.mu
5、scariaand188–269ppm/1554–1880ppminthecapofA.pantherina.Inthecaps,thesecompoundshadatendencytobemoreconcentratedinthefleshthaninthecuticle.Ontheotherhand,theIBO/MUScontentsinthestemwerefarlowerthaninthecaps.Inthe‘‘extractspurportedtocontainA.muscaria’’products,IBO/MUSweredetec
6、tedbelowthelowerlimitofcalibrationcurve(<10ppm/<25ppm)ornotdetected.However,thesesamplescontainedotherpsychoactivecompounds,suchaspsychoactivetryptamines(5-methoxy-N,N-diisopropyltryptamineand5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine),reversiblemonoamineoxidaseinhibitors(harmineandha
