2、le,afterfiltrationthrougha0.6to0.8µmglassfiberfilter,isdefinedasthe1312extract.2.2Forsamplescontaininggreaterthan0.5%solids,theliquidphase,ifany,isseparatedfromthesolidphaseandstoredforlateranalysis;theparticlesizeofthesolidphaseisreduced,ifnecessary.Thesolidphaseisextractedwi
3、thanamountofextractionfluidequalto20timestheweightofthesolidphase.Theextractionfluidemployedisafunctionoftheregionofthecountrywherethesamplesiteislocatedifthesampleisasoil.Ifthesampleisawasteorwastewater,theextractionfluidemployedisapH4.2solution.Aspecialextractorvesselisusedw
4、hentestingforvolatileanalytes(seeTable1foralistofvolatilecompounds).Followingextraction,theliquidextractisseparatedfromthesolidphasebyfiltrationthrougha0.6to0.8µmglassfiberfilter.2.3Ifcompatible(i.e.,multiplephaseswillnotformoncombination),theinitialliquidphaseofthewasteisadde
