3、nicalmedicineandthe2015NobelPrizeinPhysiologyorMedicine.In11December（BeijingTime），TuYouyoureceivedher2015NobelPrizeinPhysiologyorMedicineinSweden.TuisthefirstChineseNobellaureateinphysiologyormedicineandthefirstcitizenofthePeople'sRepublicofChinatoreceivetheNobelPrizein
4、naturalsciences.“TheProfessorofThreeNos”:nopostgraduatedegree,nostudyorresearchexperienceabroad,notamemberofanyChinesenationalacademies.Malariaresearch- artemisininArtemisinin,adrugthathassignificantlyreducedthedeathrateofmalariapatients,andsavedmillionsoflivesacrossthe
5、globe,especiallyinthedevelopingcountry.TustartedhermalariaresearchinChinawhentheCulturalRevolutionwasinprogress.Inearly1969,Tuwasappointedastheheadoftheproject,namedProject523researchgroupatherinstitute.Sheandhercolleaguesexperimentedwith380extractsin2,000candidaterecip
6、esbeforetheyfinallysucceeded.In1971,TuwasinspiredbymanyancientclassicworksonTCM.Usingapioneeringlow-temperaturemethod,Tuandherteamfirstextractedartemisininfromasweetwormwoodplant(青蒿).Forthesakeofdrugsafety,shehadpersonallytakingtests，whichledtoherliverpoisoning,butshest
