4、nIneededtheminthefuture.Eventually,thefilegrewthickerandthicker,untilitwasbigenoughtobecomeabook.Thespeakingactivitiesinthistextcomefromavarietyofsources:Alotofthetaskssprangfrommyownimagination,stimulatingmetogointotheclassroom,feelingmotivatedbythefreshnessthataccompaniesanewinspirat
5、ionandbeingeagertoshareitwithmystudents.Thiscouldbecomparedtocookingonimpulseratherthanfollowingasetrecipe.Igotmanyadditionalideasfromtalkingtofellow-teachersaboutwhatworkedforthemintheirclasses.IevenpickedupsomegoodexamplesfromthehandoutsofvariouscoursesthatIwasrequiredtoteach,allofwh
6、ichtaughtmealotoftime-proventricksthatalmostalwayswork.Curiously,whenItoldmyChulastudentsthatIwascompilingacollectionofspeakingtasksforpublication,theyrespondedbygettinginvolvedandsuggestingideasoftheirown.Iwouldoftendividetheclassintogroupsoffivestudentsandtellthemtomakeupadramaticsce
7、neordialogueorgame,orwhateverelsetheywantedtotry,andcomebackandperformitinthenextclass.Manyoftheseactivitieswereeffectivelearningtoolsandhavebeenincludedinthebook.Formanyyears,IalsofacilitatedEnglishprogramsforArthurAndersen,SGVNaThalang,KPMG,YontrakitGroup,AmariGroup,andBankofAyuddy
