4、blishedonthetopicbetweenJune2000andMay2002,focusingonchildren’sin-homeuseofinteractivetechnologies(seeWartella,O’Keefe,&Scantlin,2000,fordetailsonoursearchstrategy).Inaddition,wehaveorganizedourreviewofthisliteratureaccordingtothecategoriesoftheoriginalresearchcomp
5、endium,includingchildren’suseandaccesstointeractivemedia;cognitiveandsocialoutcomesofsuchinteractivemediause,healthandsafetyissues,andpolicyconcerns.Indevelopingthebibliographyforthisreview,wenotedthatsincepublicationofouroriginalcompendium,therehavebeenfourbooksor
6、specialissuesofjournalsdevotedtothistopic(Calvert,Jordan,&Cocking,2002;TheFutureofChildren:ChildrenandComputerTechnology;Singer&Singer,2001;ZerotoThree:Babies,Toddlers,andtheMedia,2001)andanadditionalsetofsixresearchreviewsoftheliterature(Buckingham,2002;Cordes&Mil
