2、legeDecember,2003AbstractWepresentathree-dimensionalnetworkmodeltosimulatetwo-andthree-phasecapillarydominatedprocessesattheporelevel.Thedisplacementmechanismsin-corporatedinthemodelarebasedonthephysicsofmulti-phaseflowobservedinmicromodelexperiments.Alltheimportantfeatures

3、ofimmisciblefluidflowatthepore-scale,suchaswettinglayers,spreadinglayersoftheintermediate-wetphase,hysteresisandwettabilityalterationareimplementedinthemodel.Wettabilityal-terationallowsanyvaluesfortheadvancingandrecedingoil/water,gas/waterandgas/oilcontactanglestobeassigned

4、.Multiplephasescanbepresentineachporeorthroat(element),inwettingandspreadinglayers,aswellasoccupyingthecen-treoftheporespace.Inall,somethirtydifferentgenericfluidconfigurationsfortwo-andthree-phaseflowareanalyzed.Doubledisplacementandlayerreformationareimplementedaswellasdirec

5、ttwo-phasedisplacementandlayercollapseevents.Everyelementhasacircular,squareortriangularcross-section.ArandomnetworkthatrepresentstheporespaceinBereasandstoneisusedinthisstudy.Themodelcomputesrelativepermeabilities,saturationpaths,andcapillarypressuresforanydisplacementseq

6、uence.Amethodologytotrackagiventhree-phasesaturationpathispresentedthatenablesustocomparepredictedandmeasuredrelativepermeabil-itiesonapoint-by-pointbasis.Anewandrobustdisplacementbasedclusteringalgorithmispresented.Wepredictmeasuredrelativepermeabilitiesfortwo-phaseflowina

7、water-wetsystem.Wethensuccessfullypredictthesteady-stateoil,waterandgasthree-phaserelativepermeabilitiesmeasuredbyOak[1].Wealsostudysec-ondaryandtertiarygasinjectionintomediaofdifferentwettabilityandinitialoilsaturationandinterprettheresultsintermsofpore-scaledisplacementpr
