3、theserepresentlessthanone-quarterofpublicationactivity.AcademicresearchactivityinglassceramicsisessentiallynonexistentintheUnitedStates,whiletheattentiongiventometallicandchalcogenideglassesisdisproportionatelylargerthanthecurrentindustrialvalueforsuchglasses.Weidentifyar
4、easofglassresearchthatarepresentlylessexplored,yethighlypromisingintermsofbothindustrialapplicationandtrain-ingstudentsforfuturecareersinindustry.Introductionpropersizeandplacementoftheinternalringswascrucialtoenablethelenstoproperlydirectlight.TheResearchersfromuniversit
5、iesandindustryhaveinventor,CharlesHoughtonofCorningGlassWorks,contributedtotheadvancementofsocietybyapplyingworkedwithtwoCornellUniversityresearchers,thescientificmethodtobetterunderstandglass.OneGeorgeMolerandWilliamAnthony,tounderstandoftheearliestexamplesintheUnitedStat
6、esoccurredthebasicprinciplesofopticsthatwerenecessaryfor1duringthe1870s,whenthousandsofpeoplediedtheinvention.annuallyfromrailroadaccidents,manyofwhichwereOttoSchottwasoneofthefirstresearcherstocausedbypoorlyfunctioningrailroadsignals.Onesig-applythescientificmethodtothestu
7、dyofglassandnificantsafetyimprovementwastheinventionofglasssubsequentlydisseminatehisfindingsthroughpublica-lenscoversforrailroadlanterns,whichplacedfocusingtion.In1879,Schottpublished“StudiesontheTough-ringsontheinsideratherthantheoutsideofthelenseningofGlass,”inwhichhepre
