3、iththeANSYSFluentFuelCellmodulesoftwarewasevaluated.Novelinterdigitateddesignswereoptimizedbyobeyingbiologicallyinspiredbranchingrules.Theserulesallowformoremathematicallyformaldescriptionsofflowfielddesigns,enablingrelativelysimpleoptimization.Thechanneltolandratiowaskeptequivalentbetweendesignsw
4、ithtypicalvaluesbetween0.8and1.0.Thepressuredropandthecurrentdensitydistributionweremonitoredforeachdesignonbothanodeandcathodesides.Themostpromisingdesignsareexpectedtoexhibitlowerpressuredrophowever,lowpressuredropcanalsobeanindicationofpotentialwaterfloodingathigheroperatingcurrentdensity.Abiol
5、ogicallyinspiredinterdigitateddesignwith9inletchannelsexhibitedreducedpressuredropandimprovedcurrentdensitydistributioncomparedtoallotherinterdigitateddesignsevaluatedinthisstudy.ThesimulatedfuelcellperformancedataatambientpressurewithhumidifiedH2andaircompareswellwiththeexperimentaldatausingasing
