3、onditions.PolymerElectrolyteFuelCellsPolymerelectrolytemembrane(PEM)fuelcellsemployapolymermembranewithacidsidegroupstoconductprotonsfromtheanodetocathode.WatermanagementinthefuelcelliscriticalforPEMfuelcelloperation.Sufficientwatermustbeabsorbedintot

4、hemembranetoionizetheacidgroups;excesswatercanfloodthecathodeofthefuelcelldiminishingfuelcellperformancelimitingthepoweroutput.AschematicofapolymerelectrolytemembranehydrogenoxygenfuelcellisshowninFigure1.Figure1.HydrogenoxygenPEMfuelcell.Hydrogenmole

7、nataw=1minimizesthemembraneresistanceforprotonconduction,butresultsinwatercondensationwhichinhibitsmasstransfertotheelectrodes.OurresearchisfocusedonfindingoptimaloperationalandcontrolschemesforwatermanagementinPEMfuelcells.TheFuelCellasaChemicalReact
