3、eproteinispresumed.ThemeanvalueofASPinthechildrenwithDMDwassignificantlyhigherthanthatinnormalcontrols.TheconcentrationofASPwascorrelatedwiththatof3-methylhistidine(3MH),whichhasbeenproposedasanindexofmusclebreakdown.ThisfindingindicatesthaturinaryASPreflectst
4、hecatabolismofbodyproteins.NocorrelationwasobservedbetweentheconcentrationofASPandthatof1-methylhistidine(IMH),whichisusedasanobjectiveindexofmeatandfishingestion.Aftertheadministrationofbestatin,aninhibitorofleucineaminopeptidase,for9months,theurinaryASPconce
5、ntrationofchildrenwithDMDincreasedmarkedly.Thisincreaseisthoughttohavebeendirectlycausedbythebestatinitself.UrinaryASPisthereforeapparentlyamoreconvenientlyappliedindexofproteincatabolismthanisurinary3MH,whichrequirestheapplicationofseveralrestrictions.However
