2、deckregardinggeometryandforces.Duringdeckerection,nounwantedbendingmomentsshouldbelockedintothecompositesectionswhentheconcreteslabisconnectedtothesteelsubstructure.Suchlocked-inmomentswouldbendthedeck,causeconcretecreepthatisdif®culttopredict,andintroducetheriskofdeviationsfromthedesiredd

3、eckalignmentandthecorrespondingdistributionofforces.Thispaperpresentsasimpleandpracticalmethodoferectionanderectionanalysisforcompositedeckswithprecastconcreteslabs.Atwo-steptensioningprocedureofthestaycablesisproposedthatminimizestheeffectsofunwantedlocked-inmoments,makingiteasytopredictt

4、hegeometryoftheerectionstagesandtoyieldthedesireddeadloadcon®gurationofthedeck.ThemethodwassuccessfullyappliedfortheerectionoftheTingKaubridgeinHongKong,acable-stayedbridgeof1,200minlengthhavingacompositedeckwithaprecastdeckslab.INTRODUCTIONsecond,theheavyconcreteslabisplacedusingthesteelg

5、ridaspermanentframework.Atspansbeyondabout700m,theSincethe1950salargenumberofcable-stayedbridgeswithcompositedeckbecomestooheavy,andthesteelgirderwithconcreteorcompositesteel-concretedeckshavebeenbuilt,anorthotropicdeckremainstheonlyeconomicalchoice.andtheirdesignandconstructionmethodsarew

6、ellestablished.Theverticalalignmentofthebridgedeckisusuallypre-However,themethodsforerectionanderectionanalysisofscribedbythedesigneroftheroad.Thebridgewillbebuiltcompositesteel-concretedecksarenotcoveredextensivelyinstagebystage.Uponcompletion,underalldeadloadsandtheliterature,especiallyr
