2、RDThisIndianStandard(FourthRevision)wasadoptedbytheBureauofIndianStandards,afterthedraftfinalizedbytheCementMatrixProductsSectionalCommitteehadbeenapprovedbytheCivilEngineeringDivisionCouncil.Precastconcretepipesarewidelyusedforwatermains,sewers,culvertsandinirrigation.Thisstandar

3、dlaysdowntherequirementsofqualityanddimensionsforconcretepipestoserveasguidancetothemanufacturersandusersinproducingandobtainingconcretepipesofsuitablequality.GuidanceregardinglayingofconcretepipesisgiveninIS783:1985‘Codeofpracticeforlayingofconcretepipes’.Incaseliquidconveyedbyth

4、epipelineislikelytobeharmfultoconcrete,necessaryprecautionsshouldbetaken.Thisstandardwasfirstpub]ishedin1956andsubsequentlyrevisedin1961,1971and1988.Thepresentrevisionhasbeentakenupwithaviewtoincorporatingthemodificationsfoundnecessaryasaresultofexperiencegainedwiththeuseofthissta

5、ndard.ThisrevisionalsoincorporatessomeoftheimportantamendmentsissuedtothelastversionofthestandardincludingthoserelatingtorestrictingtheuseofplainendedpipesandincorporationofdetailedprovisionsregardingpipesmanufacturedbyvibratedcastingprocessandvariousdecisionstakenbytheSectionalCo

6、mmitteefromtimetotime.Forthepurposeofdecidingwhetheraparticularrequirementofthisstandardiscompliedwith,thefinalvalue,observedorcalculated,expressingtheresultofatestoranalysis,shallberoundedoffinaccordancewithIS2:1960‘Rulesforroundingoffnumericalvalues(revised’.Thenumberofsignifica
