4、nterestintheeconomicdevelopmentofthewiderworld.Stimulatingasthesescholarlydevelop-mentshavebeenforthespecialist,therapidadvanceofthesubjectandthequantityofnewpublicationsmakeitdifficultforthereadertogainanoverviewofparticulartopics,letalonethewholefield.NewStu
5、diesinEconomicandSocialHistoryisintendedforstudentsandtheirteachers.Itisdesignedtointroducethemtofreshtopicsandtoenablethemtokeepabreastofrecentwritinganddebates.Allthebooksintheseriesarewrittenbyarecognisedauthorityinthesubject,andtheargumentsandissuesareseto
