4、atedthreeyears:Thefirsttime,IwasabarelyoutofCalculus,andtheMCMhitmelikeafreighttrain.Iwastotallyunprepared,utterlyblindsided,andmyteamendedupwithaSuccessfulParticipantranking.Ispenthoursanalyzingwhatwentwrong,andplottingmyrevenge.Thesecondyear,wedidbetter,butIstilldidn’thavea
5、handleonthings,andwedidn’tknowwheretoattack,endingupwithanHonorableMention.Bythethirdyear(’98),Iwasoutforblood.Iwentoverthepreviousyearsproblems,studyingtheanatomyofagoodpaper,relentlesslypreparingfortheintellectualbattleofalifetime.Thistimemyteamclicked,andweannihilatedthep
6、roblem–receivinganOutstanding,thehighestpossibleranking.IntheyearssinceIgraduated,IhavecoachedteamsbothattheUniversityofColoradoatBoulder2000-2003,andatCarrollCollege2004-present,soIhaveseenalotofteamssucceedandothersthatdidn’tdoaswellastheycould.Theadvicethatfollowscomesfro
