5、noftheseassembliesisoftenlimitedbyalackofunderstandingofthedetailedassemblymechanisms.Inordertoenhancetheperformanceofinterfacialassembliesitisessentialtobeabletocharacterizethephysicalandmechanicalpropertiesofassembledlayers,aswellasdevelopmodelsystemsthatwillallowustoexamine

6、thefactorsthatgoverntheirinteractionwiththesurroundingenvironment.Thekeypurposeofthisthesisistodevelopanunderstandingofsomeoftheimportantfactorsinfluencinginterfacialassembliesatimmiscibleliquidinterfaces.Thefirstportionoftheworkinvolvesmechanicalcharacterizationofinterfaciallay
