4、emainlycomposedofCa4O(PO4)2(TTCP),Ti,TiO2andCaO.Thesynthesized(HAp/SiO2)/Tibi-ocompositesexhibitagoodbioactivity,forexample,afterthesamplesareimmersedinSBFsolu-tiononlyfor24hours,thebone-likelayerconsistingofsphericalapatitecrystalclustershasde-positedonthesurfaceofthesamples.Th
5、edensityandthicknessoftheapatitelayerincreaseswithincreasingimmersiontime.Theformationprocessandmechanismsofbone-likeapatitelayerarealsodiscussed.IntroductionHydroxyapatite(HAp)hasbeenwellestablishedasanidealmedicalimplantmaterialduetoitssimilarityinchemicalcompositiontotheinorg
6、aniccomponentofhumanhardtissuesandbio-compatibilitywithhumanbone[1].However,thepureHApimplantexhibitssomeobviousdis-advantages,suchasitsslowrateofnewboneapposition,poormechanicalpropertiesandetc.[2].Infact,theapatitecrystalstructuresofbonetissuearesubstitutedbydifferentkindsofio
7、ns,such4+2-2+4+asSi,CO3,andMg[3].Differentions(e.g.,Si)wouldplayimportantrolesinthehardtis-sueformation.Earlyin1970,Carlisleetalhavealreadydemonstratedtheimportanceofsiliconinboneformationandcalcification[4].Currently,variouspreparationmethodsofbiocompositesofSi-substitutedHApwe
