4、oplayinthisrapidlyevolvingworldorder.Worse,manyfailtograspthatgrandstrategyinvolvesfarmorethanforeignandnationalsecuritymatters.Grandstrategyispreciselyaboutthebroader,ifoftenignored,contextofbuildingandreinforcingthedomesticpoliticalandeconomicfoundation
5、sofAmericannationalpower.KnowingfullwelltheseriouschallengesfacingtheUnitedStates,thereisnomorepressingproblemforthenationthantodevelopagrandstrategythatgivespolicymakersandthepublicaclear,positive,andbipartisanvisionoftheprinciplesandideasthatguideU.S.fo
6、reignpolicy.ThisstrategymustarticulateavisionfortheU.S.thatismorethanthesumofthechallengesthenationfaces.Tobeeffective,America’snewstrategymustreinforcethedomesticfoundationsofAmericanpower,reassurefriendsandalliesthatAmericanforeignpolicyembracesaprudent
