2、ware-adoptiondecisionsbecome.Theareaofhuman-computerinteraction(HCI)hasmuchtoofferthoseofusinlanguageteachingandresearch.Whileconceivedspecificallytoaidinthedesignprocess,HCItestingtoolssuchastheDECIDEframeworkcanhelplanguageteachersandresearchersgetanideaofhowusableaparticularsoftwarepackageis
3、beforeitisputtouseonawiderscale.Thissmall,preliminarystudyexaminedtheusabilityofthelearningmanagementsystem(LMS)moodle’sregistrationprocessandassignmentsubmissionmodule.Whileusersweregenerallysuccessfulintheintermediatetasks,one-halfwerenotabletocompletethefinaltaskofsubmittinganassignment.Whil
4、emorestudyisneededtoconfirmthecauses,itispossiblethatboththelackofexperienceinawidevarietyofcomputer-relatedtasksandtheuseofL2intheinterfaceplayedapartintheresults.INTRODUCTIONomputingtechnologyisfindingitswayintomoreanddifferentCkindsofclassrooms.Coursesthathavebeentaughtinmoretraditionalways,
5、suchasforeignlanguagecourses,arenowusingvarioustechnologiestoenhancelessons.Asynchronoustechnologiessuchasemailhavebeenusedforsometimenowtowidenthescopeoflearningopportunitiesforlanguagelearners(Chapelle,2001;Gaer,1999;Kern&Warschauer,2000;Peyton,1999).Morerecently,discussionboards,orbulletinbo
6、ardsystems(BBS),andblogsandwikishavebeenimplementedtofurtherexpandthepossibilitiesforthesestudents(Field,2002;Lavin&Tomei,2006;Ward,2004).Inaddition,synchronoustechnologies,suchaschat,arebeingputtouseinlanguagecourses(Pellettieri,2000).DuetoboththeubiquityoftheInternetandincreasedavailabilityof
7、networkbandwidth,powerfulpackagesknownaslearningmanagementsystems(LMS)arebeingdevelopedtoenhancelearninginavarietyofenvironments.LMSs,sometimescalledcourseorcontentmanagementsystems,combinetheseandotherlearningtechnologiestoenable
