2、illagreatdealofuncertaintyaboutthelikelyeffectsofsuchatemperatureriseonclimate,andevenmoreabouttheimpactsofclimatechangeandvariabilityontheworld’shydrologicalregimesandsocio-economicsystems.Studyingtheeffectsofclimatevariabilityinthepastcangivecluesr
3、egardingpossiblefutureeffects.ThisvolumeprovidesacomprehensivereviewoftheeffectsofclimatevariabilityonhydrologicalandhumansystemsintheHolocene(approximatelythelast10,000yearsofpre-historyandhistory),invariouspartsoftheworld.Thebookconcentratesonthere
4、gionsborderingtheMediterraneanSeatotheeastandnorth,thewesternandcentralpartsofEurope,China,Japan,westandsouthAfricaandthesouthwesternUSA.Themainconclusionisthatglobalwarmingwillbringaboutadecreaseinprecipitationintheregionsdominatedbythewesterlies(Me
5、diterraneanclimates)andanincreaseinprecipitationinthemonsoon(sub-tropicalandtropicalclimates)regions.ClimateChangesduringtheHoloceneandtheirImpactonHydrologicalSystemswillbeofvaluetoresearchersandprofessionalsinhydrology,climatology,geologyandhistori

7、965to1974hewasHeadoftheHydrogeologicalDivisionoftheGeologicalSurveyofIsrael.In1975,hefoundedandlaterledtheWaterResourcesResearchCenteroftheJacobBlausteinInstituteforDesertResearch,andbecameaProfessorofBen-GurionUniversityoftheNegev,wherehewasholderof
