2、ussedinapedagogiccontextthathasalmostnormalizedfeminism,seeingitspoliticalcontribu-tionsasbelongingtothepast.TheessayarguesthattheconceptualconjunctureofcultureandgenderwhichhasbeencentraltofeministtheorizinginIndianeedstoberethought.Thisconjuncturearosefromthinkingaboutcultureinthefr

3、ameworkofnationalismandtheanti-colonialstruggle,andthealignmentofwomenwithnationalculture.Idiscussbrieflythetrajectoryofhowwehavegoneaboutinvestigatingtheculture-genderconjuncture,presentareformulationofwhatIthinkwe’reupagainst,andintroducesomenewresearchprojectswhicharetryingtotaketh

4、isonboard.Thefocusintheseprojectsisonthequestionoftranslation,andhowtheissueof‘regional’languagesposesachal-lengetoprevalentideasinthewomen’smovementandinfeministteaching.Thelargerpropositionisthatweneedtoformulatecurriculabasedonnewkindsofresearchifwearetotakefeminismintotheculturals

5、tudiesclassroomofthefuture.Mygenerationofscholarshasbeenpractis-earlierinstanceofsuchengagementwastheingculturalstudies,sometimesbyothersatidebateinthe1980s.Feministscholar-names,butnowweinhabitthemomentofship,especiallyinliterarystudiesandinstitutionalization,andhavetoteachhistory,ha

6、sdiscussedtheformationoftheculturalstudiesinformalsettingsthatwillfemalesubjectinIndiaoverthelastcenturyensuretheofficialcertificationofstudentsandahalf,andelaboratedhownotionsofandresearchers.Ifpedagogyisasignificantnormativefemininityandmasculinitywerenewsiteforthearticulationofthep
