2、thecharacterofcostsandaffectingthepatternofmarketadjustment.Thiscreates’thepossibilitythatmarketswillworkdifferentlyinparticularhistoricalperiods.Thisbookexploresmarketadjustmentsintwodistincthistoricalperiods,1870–1914and1945tothepresent.Thebookfocusesonsixc
3、ountries:theUnitedStates,theUnitedKingdom,Canada,Germany,JapanandArgentina.Inallcasestheearlierperiod,dominatedbycraft-basedtechnologies,provestobetheoneinwhichmarketsadjustthroughaweaklystabilizingpricemechanism.Bycontrast,inthelaterperiod,inallcases,withthe
