5、fsuchdroughtsinordertoreducetheireffectonagriculture.Inthepresentstudy,thedroughtriskforcropproductionwasassessedthroughanintegratedapproachthatanalyzedtherelationshipbetweencropyieldanddroughtontheHenanPlain,China.WeusedthecalibratedCERES-Wheatmodeltosimulate2levelsofwheatyield,theyield

6、potentialandthewater-limitedyieldpotential,at66weatherstations.Theyieldgapbetweentheyieldpotentialandthewater-limitedyieldpotentialwasusedasanindicatoroftheeffectsofaprecipitationdeficitoncropproductionunderrain-fedconditions.Astronglinearrelationshipbetweentheyieldgapandtheamountofpreci

7、pitationinthegrowingseasonwasobservedforeachstationduringtheperiod1962−2009.AuniformcriterionfordroughtseveritythresholdsfortheentireHenanPlainwasconstructedbasedontheyieldgap.Foreachstation,thegrowing-seasonprecipitationthresholdsassociatedwithdifferentdroughtseveritiesw
